The council held a discussion to work together with the leaders of the Ethiopia national consultation commission
Members of the Executive Committee of the Ethiopian Media Council held a discussion with the leaders of the Ethiopian National Consultation Commission, which is working to hold inclusive national consultations on the most basic national issues.
In a statement given by the Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Consultative Commission, Prof. Mesfen Araya, the commission is working on various tasks based on the proclamation no 1265/2021.The fact that there is a disagreement on basic national issues between various political and ideological leaders in Ethiopia, as well as members of society. He said that except for some areas, the activities of meeting the participants and accepting the agenda are being done in all areas of the country
The Chief Commissioner said that the role of media experts is important to make the national consultation effective. He called up on to work together to make the platforms accessible to the masses, including the discussion with various sections of the society.
EMC Chairperson Ato Amare Aregawi, mentioned that the powers and responsibilities given to the Ethiopian National Consultative Commission by the decree give an opportunity to solve the problems that have been accumulated in the country for centuries through dialogue.
From agenda setting and participants’ observations, when public discussions and consultations are held in the country, they have reached a consensus to continue to discuss the strategic plans prepared by the commission on how the media will make the discussions accessible to the public and to work together by increasing the capacity of journalists through training by adding its own resources.
