The Ethiopian Media Council and Ethiopian Media Authority have signed a cooperation agreement to help strengthen the mutual control system.
The purpose of the agreement is for the two institutions to work together to modernize and develop the country’s media system and to strengthen and implement the mutual control system.
The Director General of the Ethiopian Mass Media Authority, Ato Mohamed Edris, said that the agreement between the two institutions is based on principles, to create trainings and manuals related to the profession, to enable professionals engaged in the country’s media sector to be professional, qualified and effective, and to exchange complaints and information from the public and various parties. He said that it is aimed to strengthen the inspection system.
On his part, the Executive Chairman of the Ethiopian Media Council Chairperson, Amare Aregawi, said that the two institutions should cooperate and work together to develop the media sector by strengthening the mutual control system.
During the agreement, it was also stated that suggestions and complaints submitted to the authority regarding the media that are members of the council will be facilitated by the council to get a professional decision.
It is known that the Ethiopian Media Council is an independent institution consisting of more than 60 media houses and professional associations.
